The geological evolution of earth's crust in Dărmăneşti depression facilitated the creation of crude oil and coal reserves. After World War II intense drilling and petroleum extractions were made, including in Dărmăneşti area. In December 1949, Dărmăneşti Refinery was constructed. From 1949 to 2003, crude oil reserves in Dărmăneşti, Comăneşti, Dofteana, Mosoare, Moineşti, Zemeş, Solonţ, Tescani, and Cāmpeni were taken and processed in the refinery in Dărmăneşti.
In 1930 – 1944, reserves of coal charted the mine Lapoşul de Sus the 10th coal mine out of 63 running in those time in Romania, after the quality and quantity of extracted and delivered coal.
